Fever Tip
Over the weekend, my son had a 100+ degree fever. I did the same thing that my mom did to me - put a cold rag on my forehead to cool me down. You have probably also heard to give your child a cold bath to help with extremely high temperatures. When I took my son to the doctor, she told me a valuable piece of advice: ditch the cold bath and the rag on the forehead. So what do you do?
Take a cold rag and place it on your child's neck making sure it covers both of their carotid arteries. She said that this helps cool your child down faster than anything else. She also said that cold baths actually hurt more than help. When your child is that sick, it is not good to make them shiver that much. They will loose a tremendous amount of energy by shivering.
Hope this helps!
