When will I look like her?
I am really trying hard to lose weight. I'm so tired of not fitting into my cute clothes. I'm so tired of seeing pictures of me and all I can see is fat! Let me preface this with a little explanation of my own psyche... I danced ballet for 20 years - from the age of 4 until I was 24. I have always been little and in shape. So when I say that I see pictures of myself and all I can see is fat, I'm being a little dramatic.
I will divulge my very personal information: I'm 5'3" and I currently weight 140 pounds. This is the most I have ever weighed (excluding my pregnancies). I really want to lose about 20 pounds. I want to be back down to 120 and most importantly, I want to feel good about my body again.
Upon searching for my ideal weight, I came to several websites. The first one I saw was www.howmuchshouldiweigh.org. You enter your sex, and your height and it gives you a range. After inserting my information, it says that I should weigh 128 but anything from 111 to 148 is okay; but that's all they say. I'm looking for more insight than that.
Searching further, I found the following article. I want to see results, but what I must remember is what kind of results do I want to see? Yes, I want to weigh 20 pounds less, but I also want to fit into clothes that I wore on our honeymoon and back when my husband and I were just dating. But the inevitable question they ask is, "How long did it take you to put on the weight?" UGH! I HATE that question simply because I know what is coming. Yes, this weight is a combination of two pregnancies. From the linked article in this paragraph, I did get a key message. It takes at least THREE weeks for your new workout regimen to become firmly established. It will take another THREE weeks for you to start feeling and looking better. Six weeks. Six weeks. I can do it.
So where is that laser that will just zap my fat away?! Ha! There really is such a thing, however, I'm going to do this the real way. The satisfying way. I want to look at myself in a few months and know that I did this all on my own.
My husband and I started doing P90X every morning. One of my mommy friends did this for the full 90 days and she looks absolutely AMAZING now! She gave me some great advice though. Don't just jump into this workout program without working your way up to it.
I started by doing the 10 minute workouts that I blogged about before. Then I worked my way up to doing "6 Week Six Pack" by Jillian Michaels. (Side note: I found this workout video FREE in the Free Zone through Cox Communications on Channel 001. Just go to Health & Wellness and you can find a plethora of free workout videos - including the one I just spoke of - in this section.) I did this for three weeks and actually lost about 10 pounds! And then we got the flu. This set me back about a week and a half due to a persistent cough. After that, I decided that it was time to step up my game. I needed to do it so that I can hopefully get the results that I am looking for.
Back to P90X. It hurts. It's hard. I'm not going to lie! But I will tell you, I am so glad I'm doing it. Tomorrow will be day 6 of P90X. This comes with a workout schedule. You simply have to chose which series you want to do. (Is being lean what you are looking for or do you want to bulk up?) This is six days of working out. Most days the workout is an hour long; but the yoga is an hour and a half. You need to plan accordingly. I have to do mine early in the morning before my kids wake up. I know that you know as well as I do that it is extremely difficult to workout for an hour with two little ones.
So here is what I will do. As I go through P90X, I will post my progress as I see it happening. Bottom line, it's going to take patience to look like that girl in the picture that I posted. She's probably in her 20's and never had a kid - more or less two! But then again, I'm just jealous. If I can look like her in 90 days, I'll post a picture of me doing that! Ha!
